How to Create a Multilingual Text Variable

A Multilingual Text Variable is a special system variable which has a name beginning *MTXT. They are listed on the Repository tab, under Resources:

A setting at partition level defines the supported languages.

1.     Create a New ->  Multilingual  Variable from the File menu:

2.     Complete the name, following *MTXT and a suitable Description. The Description is the text which is to be defined in each language.

        Set the Maximum Length to suit this text in the longest supported language you will be using. For example, a language such as German will require more space than English.

        Select the Open in Editor checkbox.

3.     Initially, Multilingual Details will contain the English text only:

4.     Translate the word Settings to French and paste the text into the French value:

5.     Generally, translating the application for the required languages are done as a separate exercise. For example, a French copy of Windows and French keyboard would be required in this example.

6.    The Tools ribbon has options for Translate and Import Translate, which support "bulk" translation of the application object's Multilingual Details:
